Equal Opportunity Cell

The main problem faced by individuals with disabilities and those belonging to the marginalized sections of society stem from disabling environment and socio-cultural and economic barriers. Discrimination against any person on the grounds of his/her disability or physical limitations and minority status is a gross violation of universally accepted principles of equality and human rights and even constitutional obligations. Their problems in the field of higher education are a matter of great concern which needs urgent attention.

The Indian Society is singular in terms of the multifarious hues it has absorbed in its fabric. Living within its clinch are numerous groups that are segregated on the basis of language, ethnicity, class, caste, religion etc. This inequitable situation warrants a redemption which is possible through Equal Opportunity measures and policies.

EOC works for affirmative action for the deprived sections such as people from SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy layer) categories, religious & language minorities, differently-abled, and women.

The objectives of the Cell are:

check icon To create an atmosphere of equal opportunity through awareness generation programmes.

check icon To provide auxiliary support towards skill development and enhancing employability of students.

Mechanism

Equal Opportunities cell of the college aims to provide equal opportunities to the students belonging to various backgrounds of community, religion, gender or ability.

The mechanism of the cell is as follows:

check icon Any student can approach the convenor directly and fill out a form if they need help or counselling with regards to academic, economic, social, or other issues.

check icon The cell convenor and the Principal will review the student's question once the form has been received.

check icon In the presence of the principal, the cell convenor and members will discuss potential solutions and decide on a course of action.

check icon By email or direct communication, the student will receive the proper response.

check icon The cell asserts that it will provide the solution in seven working days.
